It's amazing to get lost in a child's imagination. They are so creative, so true to themselves, so expressive, and they don't care about messes or mistakes.....great qualities for an artist to be inspired by! Playing loosens us up, purges all the yuck in the way of creativity, and gives us a meditative break from thinking, worrying or obsessing about the areas where we are stuck (creatively or otherwise). That is why it's a great practice for anyone! I try to incorporate a little "play time" into my artistic process to get as close to my natural, free self as possible.
