everyday life photos

I thought I'd try something new and post some pictures of my everyday life—something I've seen and enjoyed on many other blogs. So here's a snippet of this week…

70 boxes packed and hauled off to storage. I wonder when I'll see my stuff again? Let's hope we find a house soon!

Last meal in the apartment. Two things I'm obsessed with: pasta and kale.

The empty walk-in closet where my husband proposed to me. Yes, in the closet. It's a long story, but was more romantic and creative than it sounds, replete with trillions of tea light candles and handwritten poetry.

The last two items left in our apartment when we were moving out: my wedding dress and a cactus. How supremely random.

We are living in one of my mother-in-law's homes this summer while we look for a house (in Western Mass). I just die looking at this front porch—I have so many fond memories of sitting on my family's front porch while growing up…reading books, watching the thunderstorms, playing cards. I intend to do all of that this summer.

So nice to have a backyard again! I haven't had that since childhood either.

What a beautiful change of scenery outside my window—hanging flower pots instead of skyscrapers and high rise apartment buildings.

My mother-in-law is a former concert pianist. Listening to the piano tuner tune this baby on my first day here? Not the most pleasant hour of my life.

It hasn't stopped raining since we got here. Such a bummer because I can't wait to enjoy this beautiful neighborhood, the park right across from the house and dinning al fresco.

It's been a long week already! Tomorrow I will be up in the Berkshires for our first day of house viewings. 9 houses in one day! Wish us luck.

  1. Oh I love the idea of playing cards on the porch during a thunderstorm...you have prompted my own memories of another porch where I shucked corn and split open black eyed peas from their pods and cut up green beans all while my grandparents told stories about their lives. Thank you for this.
